natural alternative to statins high cholesterol bad HDH LDL

Have you been diagnosed with bad Cholesterol?

Should you take Statins or should you seek a natural safer alternative?

You are unsure what to do?

At The Linseed Farm we can provide you a first line dietary approach with free information that will enable you to make an informed decision. This is based on health claims evidence ratified by the EU.

A recent EU directive stated that “Alpha-linolenic acid contributes to maintenance of normal blood cholesterol concentrations and the balancing effect happens at a daily dose of 2g ALA”. Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) is a form of Omega 3 only found in plant based oils, such as linseed oil, nuts and other seeds.

Important

Until 2005 Statins were prescribed only to those with at least a 30% or greater risk of having a heart attack within 10 years. This was then reduced to a 20% risk. Now, draft NHS guidelines suggest giving them to patients with just a 10% risk — in other words, most men over the age of 50 and most women over the age of 60, which equates to one in four adults on the medication.

There has, understandably, been a recent backlash by eminent medical professionals stating that 12 million extra people taking Statins could have ‘worrying’ side effects. We can only agree that mass medication cannot be a good thing! Increasing numbers of our customers are very concerned about Statins and are talking to a Linseed Farmer about how to balance their cholesterol naturally and without having to take a synthetic, industrially produced drug.

The Linseed Farm is delighted to be able to convey this relatively unknown information about how our linseed produce can keep your cholesterol balanced.

So it’s good to know that a plant based, sustainable dietary intervention can help balance cholesterol levels. This equates to a daily intake of a teaspoon of our natural cold-pressed Linseed (Flaxseed) Oil. In addition our freshly ground linseed meal (crushed flaxseed) can also help you by increasing the fibre in your diet – just 7g of extra fibre a day can help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
